Windows 7 slow network performance
I have a new Dell 980 running Windows 7 Pro. Windows 7 runs very slow while on the network. If I set my internet to google.com and click on the IE icon it takes from 3-5 minutes for the window to open. Opening a table on a local Access
database is just as painful.
If I unplug the network cable the Access database runs just as it should....fast.
I have wiped the machine and done a clean install of Windows 7, newest nic drivers, and MS Office with no luck. I can wipe the machine and install Windows XP and the machine runs great, on or off the network. It seems to be a 7/network issue.
I have also tried the IP 6 reg change to disable IP 6, changed the offline files, reset IP, disable auto-tuning, turned off the firewall, remove remote diff compression, and changed the link speed and duplex.
I have come to the end of the path .......any ideas?

Hi,
Regarding network slowly issue, you also can disable the offload files for testing.
Please open the CMD window with Administrator privileges and type the following commands one by one:
netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled
netsh int ip set global taskoffload=disabled
To get more information about the Offload, you can refer to the following information.

Thanks Niki,
Still no luck. The pc very slow. I did pull some others from the shelf and the problem is there on those also. I did try to remove them from the domain with no luck either.
I guess I am missing something but it sure seems to be with Windows 7 and networking.
Any other ideas I could try?
Thanks again,
James

When you say you have the latest drivers did you get them from Dell or from Intel? The latest Intel drivers (Jan 27, 2011) can be found here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18713&ProdId=3245&lang=eng.
Also check out the Release Notes found here: http://downloadmirror.intel.com/18713/eng/readme.txt. About 3/4 of the way down the page under
Known Issues there's a paragraph that states:
Reduced or erratic receive performance
--------------------------------------
Intel(R) 7500 chipset-based systems may experience degraded receive performance. Increasing receive descriptors to 1024 will resolve the issue. Disabling C-states in the system BIOS will also resolve the issue.

Hi,
Please refer to the following article to configure TCP/IP. Search the DNS server in your area and set DNS server manually.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Change-TCP-IP-settings
If the issue persists, please run
ipconfig /all in command prompt and paste the result here.
Regards,
Niki
