Windows 7 slow start up / shutdown connect to a domain
I'm having issues with connecting to my domain using windows 7. it's a fresh install of w7 enterprise x64. Start up takes forever and shut down takes up to 3-5 minutes to turn off or restart. I'm currently on an HP 7800 desktop w/ a fresh install with office 2007 and macafee 8.7 enterprise. This is happening to all users on our network and we don't know what's loading during the shutdown start up process.

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Please boot the system to clean boot environment to have a check: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 2. Check the event log and see if there are any related errors. Please also gather MPS report for our further research: Download Microsoft Product Support Reports and run it according the Instructions section on the same page. For more information about this tool, please also refer to: Two Minute Drill: The New MPS Reports For your convenience, I have created a workspace for you. Could you please make a trace of the boot process (with the Windows Performance Tookit) and provide the etl file? Here are the instruction how to do it: http://www.msfn.org/board/trace-windows-7-boot-shutdown-hibernate-standby-resume-issues-t140247.html Andr"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Did anybody come up with the resolution for this thread? I am trying to determine as to why my desktop and laptop takes 15+ minutes to fully boot up. I have done a clean install but as soon as I introduce it to my network the machine processes slow. However, the laptop works great when I connect it to my wireless network. What I have done so far: I have installed the most recent drivers for both machines. Before installing I formatted the OS partitionI have only loaded essential software (e.g adobe, java, flash) Any ideas would be great, thanks

Like zillions of users, i too was haveing super long start up issues. The wireless meter would not activate. Eventually, after i went to bed and checked the computer in the morning, everything was working fine. It turns out that for the unsecured public network i was trying to access (family mountain house) had the Windows Firewall turned on along with the Trend Firewall. Two firewalls do not make a right boot! After disabling the Win firewall, everthing worked great. Note: I still had problems when using the "Restart" command. If i shut down completly, the system boots more quickly than vista. This was an 32bit upgrade from Vista to Win 7 Home P. I also turned off the windows firewall in msconfig>startup. I would love to hear how others have solved the problem.
