Windows 7 stalls at Welcome screen
Hi there, somehow I fucked up my girldfriends laptop. It didn't do anything after hanging in iTunes, so I rebooted it. A few times meanwhile. Even used a restore point from last week. All I get now is the Welcome screen when starting in safe mode. oops, after 10 minutes it suddenly starts to display bottom icojn bar and 'safe mode' tag in all 4 corners of screen. Rest of screen (still?) blank. Can anybody help???

Hello, you should not use such words in these forums. Please run a full scan on the computer and delete all viruses, spywares and malware programs. Once done, perform a repair install of the OS and update all possible drivers (especially graphic driver). Another way to proceed is to restore your system state using a restore point that dates before the appearance of your problem. Try other restore points. If this does not help, perform a repair install. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights. Wolf, Wow, haven't well all been there huh? First, I want you to try something. Boot the computer and once the powered on tap the F8 key until you get a screen that lists several options for booting Windows. Select "Last Good Known Configuration". When Windows boots it signifies that it has booted once all core components are loaded and desktop displayed. So it might get you back in business. SAFE MODE is a great tool. It basically disabled everything except the windows core systems. So if you cannot boot to a restore point, or use last known good configuration, then maybe it's time to use the Event Viewer. Let's see how the Last Knows... works before we go there. I will monitor this thread. PS. on a side note, no matter how upset you get with technology, please don't bring that kind of lanuage in here. Normally it would get your post deleted.
