Windows 7 starting a new temporary profile every time I start up?
I have a very serious problem with my windows 7 account. I have had windows 7 for quite a few months and everything has been running smoothly. Today I tried logging on and it brought up a dialogue box saying that it could only start with a temporary user profile. I have repeatedly tried to restart and have run a virus scan. I am not quite as tech savvy as some, so I'm not sure what needs to be done to be able to use my own admin account again.

I had the same problem for quite a while. i tried quite a few suggestions about editing entries in the registry but they didnt seem to work . here is what worked for me : logon even with a temporary profile Create a new user and then restart and logon with the new user account ( hopefully this one will logon properly ) Backup just the files you need from your normal profile. Delete your normal profile Restart and then recreate your normal profile Logon with your normal ( now new ) profile and put all the files back. I know this is a bit long-winded but its the only thing that worked for me. Hope this helps
