Remember any drivers you may have installed recently. Any new programs you installed. Check the event viewer under system and applications.

Hi, BCCode 24 is related to NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM error, while BCCode 50 is related to PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error. These two error messages can occur after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, either main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM). If hardware has been added to the system recently, remove it to see if the error recurs. If existing hardware has failed, remove or replace the faulty component. Run hardware diagnostics supplied by the system manufacturer. Another cause of this Stop message is the installation of a buggy system service. You can perform a Clean Boot to disable the service and determine if this resolves the error. If so, contact the manufacturer of the system service about a possible update. Antivirus software can also trigger this Stop message. Disable the program and determine if this resolves the error. BTW, please run the following command to scan the whole system files and check disk errors: Sfc /scannow Chkdsk /r If the issue persist, it is recommended to you contact Microsoft Customer Support Service (CSS) for assistance so that this problem can be resolved efficiently. Best Regards Dale

Thanks for your reply. I tried both sfc /scannow & chkdsk /r, no errors detected. I will try removing couple new modules of memory & PCI express DLink card recently installed. What puzzles me is why only on COLD start I get the blue screen?

Hi, As I know, Cold Start restarts the computer without first performing any shut-down procedure. With many operating systems, especially those using disk caches, after a cold start the filesystem may be in an "unclean" state, and an automatic scan of on-disk filesystem structures will be done before normal operation can begin.) It may be caused by power failure, be done by accident, or be done deliberately as a last resort to forcibly retrieve the system from instances such as a critical error or virus-inflicted DoS attack. It can also be used by intruders to access cryptographic keys from RAM, in which case it is called a cold boot attack. Thus Cold Start may encounter problems that not disappearing in normal start. Do a clean install of the OS. Install a reputable anti-virus program such as MSE, AVG, etc. Download and install OS updates that are not device drivers. Update your device drivers only with those downloaded from the manufacturer's sites. Install them one at a time and reboot after each. If you installed microsoft hardware updates you may want to go into Device Manager and roll them back without performing a clean install such as a video monitor driver or storage driver. We can't spend to much time with this.

That the behavior happens when the system is "cold" would seem to suggest a hardware problem.

All of above makes lot of sense. Last night I kept the system off for an hour and then started - no issue. Today, I will keep it turned off for 8 - 10 hrs and try in the evening if the problem recurs.

I removed the DLink dwa-556 PCI Express Adapter card last night and rebooted this morning - no issue. Apaprently it's an issue with DLink card, would try installed vendor supplied drivers and see what happenns. I think, earlier I let Windows 7 find a driver.
