Windows 7 update problem
when I turn on my laptop it tries to configure the latest update. Stays at 0% for 2 or 3 minutes and then reverts the changes. This has happened 3 or 4 times now. What is wrong and what should I do?

Download and install the
System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista and check if all is okay or not.
Download and run the tool, it will say that it's "installing"...it's actually running the readiness scan at this time so you should let the installation run to completion. The KB article says it will appear to hang at 60% completion and I've observed
this as well. Just be patient and let it finish. After the "installation" is completed, try to download and install Windows Media Services again. Let us know the results.
If this does not solve your problem, please
reset windows update components .

Hi,
please run the Windows Explorer and go to the folder "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\" and copy the file "CBS.log" to your document folder (otherwise you can't open it) and open it with notepad. Now search for errors. Which errors do you see?
If you are unsure, please upload the complete CBS.log to your SkyDrive [1] and post a link here.
