Windows 7 wireless broken AGAIN
My wireless connection on Windows 7 is broken yet again. Windows update is the number 1 suspect. How do I tell windows 7 "FORGET THE CURRENT WIRELESS SETTINGS". It is trying to connect without asking for the security passkey. Please do not reply to this thread unless you know how to do this. Don't suggest running the troubleshooter, rebooting, switching off the router, re-installing windows etc. I only want an answer to the question I asked.Paul Mc

I guess the reason you are having this without getting the prompt for security passkey is the passphrase and ssid was not apply either on the router config page or the wireless setting on the laptop itself Fyi you need to ensure both router config & laptop wireless setting share the same passphrase and ssid, or else your laptop would just try connecting to any wireless network within it's range

Hi, Please let me know if you can access to the Internet when the wireless connecting without asking for the security passkey? Did you receive any error message? Ensure that IEEE 802.1x authentication of the wireless adapter is disabled and check if it helps. a. Click Start -> type ncpa.cpl in the search box and then click OK. b. Right-click the Wireless network connections icon, and then select Properties. c. Click the Wireless Security tab, click 802.1X. d. Clear the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network check box. e. Click OK to update the settings. After that, if the issue persists, go to change the passkey from the router.
