Windows 7 x64 VPN client won't work
This is not just a basic question about how to configure a Microsoft VPN and all firewall's settings. Even thou I preciate every idea or a hint please don't try with basic suggestions. I have a domain and Windows 2003 VPN server behind firewall. Generally it works fine. About month ago connection to this VPN server becomes unpossible with a Windows 7 professional x64 client that is a domain member. I have allready tryed following scenarios: - Windows 7 x64 machine tha is not a domain member. I applied proper settings to my home firewall and everything worked fine. Both the PPTP and the L2TP worked correctly. Exact situation worked fine fro several home networks. - Windows 7 x64 machine that is a domain member. I have dissabled the firewall on Win 7. I have got an Error 806 indicating as the GRE protocol can't pass firewall for PPTP. But that is wrong information as the Windows firewall is in the OFF state. On the other hand another computer of the same Windows 7 version and is not a domain member can connect to the same VPN server. - all computers involved in the story have all latest patches for Windows allready installed by the time I wrote this. - GPO in the domain allows to set firewall to custom settings. - I allways log in to the computer with my domain account even if I'm connected to other networks outside my domain. Other facts: - as an IT professional I need for my business purposees other VPN clients to be installed on my machine. I have istalled on my computer Cisco VPN client 5.0.07.0290. It works correctly. Cisco Anny Connect works without problems. Check Point Endpoint Security client works without any problems. The same story is with OpenVPN client. It works fine. I have allready asked some skilled network administrators about solving the problem. There is no answer yet. Nobody could gave me any valuable sollution yet. Is there a bug in Windows 7? The weerdest thing is it stopped working in the middle of the november in 2010. I must admit. This is really a big pain in the ____. Is there anybody who has a sollution? Suggestion? Hint?

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. Will this issue occur to all Windows 7 clients in the domain? At this point, I would suggest uninstall third party VPN software and try again. In case certain other third party software cause conflict here, let us prepare clean boot to troubleshoot. Best Regards Magon Liu TechNet Subscriber Support in forum. Hi thanks for your reply. Your presumptions were correct. I did uninstalled all third party VPN clients. After that I installed them again slectively one by one. It comes out that Cisco VPN 5.0.07.0290 is blocking Microsoft VPN clients. Regards, Vlado Fortuna New4tune
