Windows 8.1 Copy Profile Results in Blank Start Screen

I have been banging my head against a wall with this one...

I am using SCCM 2012 to deploy images. I have a VM with 8.1 Pro installed. I have removed some apps with Remove-AppxPackage and Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage. I have customized some settings and Start Screen tiles. After that I installed Office and ran updates. All of this was done under the Administrator profile.

After all of that I used the SCCM capture disk to get my wim. I then use SCCM to deploy that with an unattended file with nothing but the copy profile=true setting.

Every time this results in no settings being kept and an entirely blank Start Screen. If I deploy the image with no unattended file it copies down correctly.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I have exhausted all of my ideas on this one.

Hi,

If your answer file is ok, I would like to suggest you check the setup log to see what happened:

C:\Windows\Panther\UnattendGC

Upload the setupact.log so that we can check whats wrong with it.

To collect logs, we have two methods in forum:

  1. If you concern personal information or company related information in logs, we recommend to send log files to our forum email account: ibswcic@microsoft.com
  2. For dump file or other logs which do not contain the sensitive information, you can still use OneDrive to share them so that other community members can also provide help in analysis.
