Sorry if this has been answered in full/part elsewhere.

I had to do a system restore yesterday as my HP was stuck on the 'scanning and repairing' process. I'd left this with no progress from 10% for a good 4 hours. Restarted many times and could not get passed this.

Following successful system restore (system said it was successful and to restart), I can get to the login screen but when entering the correct password every time I enter the correct password I am given the 'That password is incorrect. Make sure you're using the password for your Microsoft account. You can always reset it at ... ' error.

I've changed the password and it hasn't worked, I've tried to make sure there are no incorrect characters in the password entry box, I've changed the keyboard to US and back to UK and tried again to no avail.

Can anyone help please, I'm at the end of my tether with it?

do you remember what is the exact date of restore point you perform?

do you remember whether you still using old password during that time?

do you have another admin account other than this user?

you can reset the password if you have another admin account within this PC

last option will be system recovery using recovery manager if this is HP OEM PC

Please try the old password.
