Windows 8.1 software installs do not show in user start menu.

Hello all,

I believe this may be a group policy question, but i'm trying to get my group policies in line for a potential rollout of windows 8.1 in the enterprise.

what's happening is that after my gpos apply, any software that is installed on the machine doesn't show in the startmenu. I must manually copy all shortcuts that are created by the install (I must elevate to install) from

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

to

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

if I want to find my shortcuts at all.

Obviously this is a misconfiguration of group policy somewhere, but I don't know where to look. The policies were roughly ported over from windows 7 where they worked very well, so I think I just need to identify where this bogus setting is coming from and correct.

It's a bit hard to google for the right terms on this.

unsure if it's relevant but home folders are redirected to server and syncing is also in play (all working).

Hi,

Is the machine domain joined before applying GPOs?

Do we configured any folder redirection/Roaming profile policies?

Could you please have a share with the policies that you have configured?
