Windows 8.1 upgrade issues

Hi, I have an Dell XPS 8700SE that was bought with Windows 8. Before I could easily upgrade to Windows 8.1 with no issue. But an incident happend causing me to have to replace my motherboard (Bios Update issue). After I got my mother board replaced, I had to reinstall windows. Now when I try to download Windows 8.1, I get this SPP error on Event Viewer: "Installation of the Proof of Purchase from the ACPI table failed. Error code: 0xC004F057" The Source of this is from Security-SPP by Microsoft. . Also I can't refresh, or reset my PC. Its says it's activated and everything. I really want Windows 8.1. is there any Windows 8.1 recovery media utilities out there. If not, is there away I can download it and install it to my Hard Drive? Also, this error does not show up on Windows 8. And I have switched back to Windows 8 until theres is a fix.

Thanks,

Shane

You should contact Dell regarding recovery OS, since if you change MB you will facing issue with activation and OS genuine. Ask Dell how to set this laptop as original and activate the Windows. After that you can upgrade OS to Windows 8.1, please also check compatibility HW (or using Windows 8.1 upgrade advisor) and driver and software availability at Dell Site

Hi,

Suggests that a 'Firmware Burned Key' was used to activate the OS.

I don't know if that is even possible, however what you might be better off doing is confirming your Install is activated correctly and if it is not - speak to manufacturer.

I tried that a few times, all they say is that I cant update because the motherboard doesnt support it. However, ill call one more time and tell them what you told me to tell them. ill update you back if it is solved.
