Windows 8 NDAS

I have three NDAS disk drives on my router, I have two desktops running Windows 8 and two laptops running Windows XP.

Since l upgraded to Windows 8 when a disk drive is mounted in Read/Write mode on a Windows 8 workstation and I mount this NDAS disk drive on a second PC I get this error message when I try to access the NDAS drive on the second PC:

E:\ is not accessible

The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable

Can someone tell me how to resolve this problem?

Thanks,

Michel

Hi,

Please know that when you use mount operation, that means this NADS drive is in use and its reasonable you get the access denied error.

If you would like to use this NADS drive on multiple computer, I suggest using map operation. Since it just create a reflection on your computer and will not affect other users.

For detailed information, you can refer to this article to know how to map a drive:

Windows 8 - Connecting to Network Drives

You can also use net use command to implement this:

Hope these would be helpful.

I have this exact problem as Michel: once the NDAS drive (IOCELL enclosure) is mounted as read/write on a PC with Windows 8.1 Pro, mounting it again as read-only or read/write on a Windows 7 Professional laptop or a PC running WinXP will return an error file structure being corrupted and prompted for formatting the drive. Mounting the NDAS drive on the Windows 7 or WinXP machine first will cause Windows 8.1 Pro explorer to freeze and restart when the NDAS drive (mounting the NDAS drive in Window 8.1 Pro does not return any error).

All devices are running the same version NDAS driver (version 3.72.2080 from Ximeta).

"Mount" is part of the NDAS Device Management software. Once the device is mounted (as RO or RW), it automatically selects the next drive letter. I don't know of any other way to connect the NDAS drive first and then do a drive mapping as Kate said.

If anybody has a solution for this I am all ears.
