Windows 8 networking issue

Hello,

I have 3 windows 8 pro pcs, all connected wirelessly to the same router. I choose not to deal at all with homegroups because I prefer the simplicity of using just the network. I have removed (as far as I can tell) all restrictions whatsoever to impede sharing (turning network discovery on, allowing sharing etc.), none of the computers have any password on their (only and admin) accounts.

I have had a desktop (64 bits) and laptop (32 bits) computer  connected this way and this setup has worked flawlessly. I can simply turn on any of these two computers, instantly click on the computers name under my network and I will access all the folders where I have chosen to share files (I have given access to modify, delete etc etc. to the 3 computers on my network).

The problem started occurring when I recently added a new computer I wish to use as a media pc. As far as I remember this computer would work fine over the network (I could access it, modify the shared folders etc.) when I had just gotten it set up. I have changed this pc's 'name' since, but not sure why that would have affected anything.

Now I can only access it sporadically, for example if I just turn it on, the computer immediately pops up in with the other networked computers, but I cannot access it. I get a 0x80070035 error, telling me that the computer is not accessible. The two computers I had before work together without a hitch, yet this third computer will just not connect. While messing around with different settings it will all of a sudden become accessible, then minutes later it will return to being inaccessible.

I can turn on, turn off, reset, whatever with my initial desktop and laptop and they will instantly be available to connect to and access files. This third computer will always instantly pop up on the network the second it is turned on, but I will almost never be able to access it until something happens along the line and I can finally connect to it. This computer can connect to internet perfectly fine and shows up every time in the network, the instant it is on but the other computers cannot connect to it and it cannot connect to the other computers. Sometimes it will be able to connect to one of the computer's but not the other, sometimes the two initial computers might be able to connect to the third media computer but it will not be able to connect to them. The connectivity issue is always with this third pc, my initial 2 work perfectly.

I have tried many things, but I am now at a loss, also seeing how the issue is sporadic, this makes it all that much harder to identify the issue. I can also usually connect using this third computer's ip address, but I have also had instances where it would not work for a while even using the ip address. I have noticed that I have a firewall on my router and have disabled this, disabled windows firewall, disabled all antivirus protection and the issue persists, maybe it has to do with some delay since I do not leave these off for hours on end and if I did perhaps I could connect normally but I strongly doubt it since thie connectivity was fine when I initially set up the third pc.

I would like to know if I can somehow flush out my router and start fresh and also if formatting this pc and setting it up all over again might have a chance of fixing the issue because I do not know what else to try.

Please advise me on what I can verify to get this computer properly networked, thanks.

you mean the PC that's having issue intermittently unable to connect to the internet?

have you tried upgrading the NIC driver of that problematic PC?
