Apologies if I am too hassled to introduce myself properly and more apologies if this is not the correct forum. I have been searching for a couple of weeks for the right microsoft forum to ask my question.
I had a Windows 8 installation that had been working acceptably for about 2 years. A month ago my PC automatically upgraded to Windows 8.1 On previous occasions I had been able to restore Windows 8 via a previous restore point. This time all previous restore
points had been deleted and I could not revert to Windows 8.
Since the automatic upgrade, internet is no longer working. The proposed solution by the troubleshooter was to connect to the internet so my computer can be automatically checked. That is so illogical it is almost funny.
I tend to imagine that the automatic upgrade messed up with some driver required to make an internet connection. What are the prospects of reverting to Windows 8 without having to reinstall my programs? Will my settings prior to the Windows 8.1 automatic upgrade be preserved? Would "reset the computer" do that?
