Windows AutoLogon feature
With a fresh install of windows 7 (DELL OEM - 64bit Home Premium version customized through ms deployment toolkit) I want to be able to add a user as an auto login so that when computer restarts it doesn't ask for a password (I still want to use a password just wants to auto login). I have tried the following registry key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "AutoAdminLogon"=dword:00000001 "DefaultUserName"="xxx" "Defaultpassword"="xxx" This works fine if I manually add/edit keys in regedit. but no matter how i try it doesn't work when I put the info in a reg file and import it. We have to configure this on each machine and we want to automate the process in any means (reg file, batch file, exe..anything). Is there any way to do it? What I find extremely weird is that if we manually go to run=>control userpasswords2 and assign the auto login, we have to do it TWICE on each system with a restart each time to get it working. Sometimes we do it three or four times. Am I missing something obvious here?

Hi, You could use a Microsoft utility Autologon to achieve this. BTW, you can refer to the solutions mentioned in the following similar issues: Automatically log in a user on startup?
