Windows Backup-up
I'm unable to launch or configure the Windows Backup program after several months of no problems. I don't know what caused the back-up to fail (no newly installed software or hardware). I do not have a restore point available to
fall back on. I receive the error msg "Server execution failed(0x80080005)."
I have already:
- checked both the System Volume Copy and the Windows Backup services - both are set to automatic and are running.
- tried to reinstall Windows 7 using the "upgrade from disk" technique, however the installation stops because the "version of Windows you are using now is new than the one you are attempting to upgrade." I'm assuming this is referencing the fact
the I'm running Window 7 sp1?
- "ownership" for the drive is set to "username/adminstrator"... Is this correct or ?

Hi Storms24,
Have you ever apply Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 after you backup you system last time? If so, this could be the cause of the issue? Thanks and Regards

Have you reviewed the Event viewer log for a possible cause?
Do you have Virtual PC installed (XP mode) ?

Hi,
The issue could be incorrect permission on
System Volume Information folder. Please refer to the following steps to add the permission.
1. Click Start -> type
Folder Options in the search box-> View Tab -> choose
Show hidden files, folders, and drives, clear the option for Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
2. Go to C:\System Volume Information, right click the folder -> Properties -> Security Tab -> make sure
SYSTEM is in the list with full permission. If not, please add it. Also please add your account into list with full permission.
3. Reboot the computer to check the result.
Note: you will receive the "Access is denied" message, click
Cancel to continue.
Also check if any security program is installed, temporally disable it.
