Windows Can Not Check For Updates!
My OS is WIN 7 (Home Premium) My problem is Windows Update will not run! When I try & run Windows Update I get "Windows Security Centre Centre Service Can't be Started" If I go to Control Panel- System Security- Windows Update- & click the "Check Updates" I get "Windows update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer" I have restarted the PC & the problems remains. I have gone to the "change Settings" & it is currently on Automatically check for & download updates" Other Issues that may or may not be related! I had issues with Java which i had to uninstall to stop the error (looking back I think this was about the time Windows Updates stopped working. I have since reinstalled Java & it is working AOK! I have a logitech head set when plugged in gives "USB device not recognized (code 43)" AV program has been uninstalled to ensure it was not the problem. I did find a problem similar to mine mentioned elsewhere that was resolved by going to the services directory and changing a setting. When I tried this the folder / file was not even listed! hope someone can help me with this as I am not looking forward to having to start over with a reinstall! Regards Fuzzybear

Thank You Andre. I did the standard fix & it fixed it to the point where it now has & will download updates! However two issues still remain that I hope you have another "Fix It" for! If I go to the Action Centre. (Control Panel - System Security - Action Centre ) Windows Security is giving me a Red Flag! If I click on the "Turn on now" I get a "Windows Security Centre Service Can't Be Started" The logitech head set when plugged in gives "USB device not recognized (code 43) Any Thoughts!! Please ask a new question for both issues. Ask the Windows Security Centre Service question in the Security forums: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprosecurity/threads and the USB issue in the hardware forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/threads This keeps it well-arranged and not a mega topic about several issues.
