Exactly how are youtrying? What happens when you try? If you get an error message, pleasequote it verbatim. Ken Blake (MS MVP)

When booting into safe mode you may be able use system restore to take the computer back to a state previously when the computer worked.MyPcHealth

What if you have the hanging desktop thanks to an explorer.exe error and found out the hard way that System Restore fails? The one I'm working on apparently had a virus because he tried streaming the BCS Title game using an absolute rogue, random stream executable. He *claims* his AV caught it and the MBAM I installed once also caught 1 entry. They had Comodo, I got rid of it because the database wouldn't update and it's only good for its firewall anyway. I put on Avast, disabled it, and now I'm reduced to hoping for just one internet connection so I can run Hitman Pro. There's gotta be a better way. If I can't use system restore, what can I use? And yes it's a Biostar (HP) and appears to have its own recovery partition but do I seriously have to go there? Something just screams "It's easier than it looks!!" at me.EDIT: Apologies if that seemed off-topic, but if mine gets fixed, the OP's gets fixed. The restore points can eat it.
