My Windows 7 PC is part of a network domain. We have a Windows 2003 server which is outside the domain. That server hosts a program that needs to write to a shared folder on my PC. I have shared the folder with everyone as well as adjusted all the share and discovery settings to be wide open. Both are behind the same firewall. I have tried but am unable to create a user on my PC because the program is running under administrator, and I am not allowed to indicate the servername\userid. It appears to only accept shares within my domain. Prior to Windows 7, this was not an issue. If I am on the server and navigate to the shared folder, I am prompted to authenticate. The program, obviously, is incapable of this. Your feedback is appreaciate.

Right-click the folder – Poperties – Security – Advanced – Effective Permissions Tab, select the user and check which permission does it have for this shared folder. Does it have sufficient permission? If it has the permission, please try to change the local security policy on your Windows 7 machine to check if it works. 1. This did not resolve the issue. We ended up disconnecting me from the network so I could change the local administrator password to correspond to the non-compliant password of the administrator from outside the domain. Once reconnected to the domain, there was connection. Thanks for your help.
