Windows Firewall Service does not start automatically after rebbot
After I log in action center alerts me that Windows Firewall is turned off and that I should turn it on. It does turn on with no problems but after I reboot, it happens again. Used to be a problem along with Windows Update not remembering my settings but that problem seemed to have been fixed. Do you have any other firewall software installed on your computer? Check Programs under control panel and remove any 3rd party firewall software first. From control panel --> Windows firewall -> make sure it is ON. I hope this helps.Manoj Sehgal

Hi, I would like confirm the following with you before troubleshooting, these information would useful to help us to narrow down the root cause of this problem. 1. When did the problem occured? 2. Did you install any third-party software recently? 3. Have you scan the virus on your computer? Since you can start Windows Firewall service manually, we can judge that the service is properly and wasn’t disabled. I suggest that you may perform a Clean Boot to ensure whether is problem is caused by a third-party software. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: Clean Boot is a step of troubleshooting, we can go back to normal by running MSCONIFG. If the issue persists, I recommend that you may enable the Service Audit, then check the log. Please take the following steps to enable Audit Policy: 1. Click Start button, type gpedit.msc in Search Bar. Press Enter. 2. Move to Local Computer Policy-> Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies ->Audit Policy. 3. Find the item ---“ Audit directory service access”, double click the item. 4. Check “Success” and “Failure”. Press OK. Then check the Windows security log which related the Windows firewall service after you start up the computer. Find the Audit Failure log then post the detail information here. Hope that helps Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
