Windows Installer Service Not Working
Hi Traceltic, Please try the following suggestions to check the Windows Installer. First, please see if the program can be installed in Clean Boot. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue. If the issue persists, please continue: 1. Quit all Windows programs. 2. Click Start, type Run in the Search box and then press Enter, type msiexec /unregister in the Open box, and then click OK. 3. Click Start, type Run in the Search box and then press Enter, type msiexec /regserver in the Open box, and then click OK. 4. Restart your computer. If the issue still exists, please perform System File Checker by the steps below: 1. Insert the Windows 7 installation DVD into the DVD-ROM; Click Exit if the auto-menu pops up. 2. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow. 3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow For more information, please refer to this knowledge base (KB) article: How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 Hope this helps.
