Windows Mail Problem
I am being asked for user name and password when I try to send/receive e mails via Windows mail. I have run this e mail account for two years without this problem. Even when the correct user name and password are inerted, the box keeps re-appearing !I see that Windows Update KB905866 (Junk email filter) was downloaded on 10 Nov. The problem appears to have happened since then.Any thoughts or ideas appreciated !!1 person needs an answerI do too

Even when the correct user name and password are inserted,Have you actually deleted the name and password and re-entered them. In Outlook Express this information did sometimes corrupt and this simple procedure could restore yje programme to working order.Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell

Try removing your mail account and close Winmail. Then compact the database (seewww.oehelp.com/WMUtil/). Then open WinMail and add your account back again. Also check for 3rd party program interference (seewww.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3). steve <dunfermline50> wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...I am being asked for user name and password when I try to send/receive e mails via Windows mail. Thanks for your suggestions, but I still have the problem despite compacting the database, removing and adding the e mail account, and turning off the e mail filter on my Norton Anti-virus.

Windows Mail and Norton are not compatible. Use one or the other. I would uninstall Norton (your computer will speed up 30 %) and install something much less invasive such aswww.microsoft.com\security_essentials . Your computer will thank you. steve <dunfermline50> wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...Thanks for your suggestions, but I still have the problem despite compacting the database, removing and adding the e mail account, and turning off the e mail filter on my Norton Anti-virus.
