I recently did a fresh install (Win 8.1 / Dell XPS laptop). when I launch WMP, it loads as fast as expected, but then hangs for 3-4 seconds before operating normally. any ideas?

Use Windows 8.1 drivers for Dell XPS laptop. If drivers fail to correct it, contact Dell support for help. Make sure that XPS is compatible with W 8.1 .

If you mention more detailes on model of your computer, smeone with the same computer and W 8.1 may help you.
