Can anyone please confirm my understanding of peer caching. I understand that it uses BITS 3.0, and that the application, ie Windows Update has to also tell BITS to make the data available to peer caching enabled computers. That being the case, other applications that also use BITS will not necessarily be able to make use of peer caching, for example software distribution using SCCM (I do realise that SCCM can use branch distribution points). On the basis that what I've said above is correct, does anyone know what other applications can use peer caching. Thanks RostlerROstler

Thanks Milos. I have read these and I think this does confirm that the application has to support peercaching, but other articles don't make this clear. If anyone knows of any other applications that do support peercaching, I would be gratefulif you could let me know.ROstler

Hi, Peer caching is a new feature of BITS 3.0 for domain-joined computers. With BITS 4.0, the peer caching model is replaced by BranchCache subnet-level peer caching.
