Windows Search on Windows 7 - Unable to open displayed search results but can preview
I've got a strange issue with my recently setup Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise OS. I also have Office 2010 Professional Plus installed as well. When I click on the Windows button and enter a search term and hit the Enter key, I will get results from my Outlook mailbox and archives and files like usual, but when I try to double-click on any of the items within the search results window, nothing will open as if I never double-clicked on the item at all - this is the case on anything which I try to double-click on. The preview option does work and it will preview my e-mail or documents which are found. I have tried the obvious things like restarting the computer and rebuilding my search index (which I tried as a last resort, even though the search indexing part is obviously working since I get a bunch of results when I search for things). Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I would like to confirm that does this issue only occur with Microsoft Outlook 2010? Can you search and open files via Search box under Start Menu? According to your feedback, the Windows Search feature works normally, but Microsoft Outlook 2010 cannot open the searched files. Based on the current situation, I would like to suggest you follow the Microsoft articles below to repair Microsoft Outlook: Repair Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost) Repair or remove your Office programs If the issue persists, it is recommend to submit your question to Outlook IT Pro Discussions forum. They are familiar with the Outlook related issue and this issue can be addressed effectively. Hi Arthur, Sorry I didn't get back to you (didn't get a notification that anyone replied to my message). Running the Office 2010 Repair actually fixed my problem. Thanks for the suggestion. The repair for Outlook data files and such were not really applicable since we use Exchange and it was also an issue with anything that was in my Exchange mailbox. Thanks again! Micah
