Windows Security Center-XP Defender
All of a sudden I was getting dire warnings that Trojans and virus' were attacking and infiltrating, and I HAD TO purchase something from (supposedly) Windows Security Center, "XP Defender". Ill-advisedly I did so. "XP Defender" said they had then removed all the threats, and gave me an ID#. When next I tried to access the Internet the same warnings came up, and the supposed ID# was invalid. Now I can't get on the Internet at all, and I'm very worried about the credit card number I used to pay for this seemingly bogus "service". I'm hoping someone can advise me! Help Please! Thanks1 person needs an answerI do too

You have been scammed. Call your credit card company immediately and do a chargeback and cancel that credit card since The Bad Guys now have it. Then remove the malware per the instructions at this site: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-antivirus-vista-2010 If you can't do the work yourself (and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea), take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Please be aware that not all local shops are skilled at removing malware and even if they are, your computer may be so infested that Windows will need to be clean-installed. If possible, have all your data backed up before you take the machine into a shop.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
