Windows Update (KB973917) fails with error code 80073712
Hi Ever since it's been available from Windows Update, my Vista x64 system has been trying to install the hotfix addressed in KB973917 and persistently fails with an error code of 80073712. I have manually downloaded the hotfix an attempted to install it from an (administrator privilege) command prompt, but have been forced to witness the same result. Any hints on what I should do now? Vista keeps bugging me about the update, which I welcome, but it's annoying that it's uninstallable.. Cheers, Tobias

Download and run the System Update Readiness Tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 and try installing the update after that. What the tool does is that it identifies and hopefully repairs the problems that are found with the servicing store in Windows. If it still does not work to install the update please post back the content of the CheckSur.log / Checksur.persist.log.
