The answer in the previous thread for a fix was the following: Goto the following redistry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]. Well all is fine in my version of the registry up to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\. I have no "WindowsUpdate\AU]" ???? Where do I go now?

Those registry key will be created automatically if you configure windows update policy accordingly and apply to the computer. (Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Update)
