Windows Update tasks in Task Scheduler (Windows 8.1)

In the Task Scheduler under Windows Update there are a few tasks :

AUFFirmwareinstall

AUScheduledinstall

AUSessionConnect

Scheduled Start

Scheduled Start with Network

The status of the 1st , 2nd and 3rd is as unable.

With the next 2 there are following problems : the result after run is :

Scheduled Start : (0x420) and Scheduled Start with Network : ok (0x0) or 1st is ok and 2nd 0x420

Would appreciate an advice or comments how to make them work properly.

Best regards, EwaGosia

Hi,

Did you encountered any issues when running Windows Updates, any detailed symptom? Below is my snapshot, and the snapshot is different is different system depending on my Windows Update settings. Here's an example in one of my Windows 8.1 machine. Currently, I don't have any issues using Windows Updates.

You can check your Windows Updates settings, for example:

AUScheduledinstall initiates scheduled install of updates on the machine.  and AUSessionConnect is options for windows update notification.

Hi Yolanda,

Thank you very much for your attention and reply. At status of  the tasks under Windows Update after 1st planned run /today in the morning/ has looked as follows :

AUFFirmwareinstall, AUScheduledinstall and AUSessionConnect as disabled and

Scheduled Start : (0x420) and Scheduled Start with Network : ok (0x0).

Have noticed that at app. the same time Scheduled Start with Network run in the Control Panel - Windows Update there is information about the last research with no result/no updates found , so it seems it is working.

After this this both tasks were planned to start next 2nd time later today and the result for both is now:

Scheduled Start : (0x420) and Scheduled Start with Network :  (0x420).

The next start has been planned for tomorrow morning (it is made by the system in the Task scheduler and I can not change).
Will look if the system can install automatically the updates when find as till now I made it simply from Windows Update in control Panel to click "install". My laptop is quite new and would like to check if the system can fix automatic installation of next Windows 8.1 Updates.

Would appreciate if you still have some comments.

Thanks and best regards, Ewa

Hi,

How's everything going? In my opinion, it's better to monitor Windows Updates in control panel\Windows Updates, make settings under control panel\Windows Updates\Change Settings as you want.

As you mentioned in your last reply, have you chekcd whether the updates are automatically installed successfully in your system?

Hi Yolanda,

Thank you for the reply. Please apology for my delate reply. The situation now is that this week many updates have been found automatically by the system and installed as well without my action. So all look ok.

In the control panel it is the option for automatic update installation and further no option to fix time (Windows 8.1) so all is settled by the system.

Thanks for your activity in this respect and best regards, Ewa

Hi Yolanda,

Still have one question : as mentioned in my previous message Windows Update working properly - can automatically find updates and insall them as well but still one task is not ok :

AUSessionConnect for Windows Update notification in constantly disabled and when try to make it ready the system changes it automatically into disabled. Also all triggers are disabled and can not change or make new, when try get the message that Task Scheduler is not available and will try to connect with this task. In fact Task Scheduler service is working as checked in the Computer Management.

So when udates are found or installed there is no message from the Control Panel. I can find them when open Control Panel under Windows Update.

Would it be possible to do something to get such messages or it is normal for Windows 8.1 ?

For example in Window 7 there are messages from Control Panel after installation done or request to restart.

Would appreciate some advice. Thanks and best regards, Ewa
