Windows XP Pro will only read 256 MB of the 2 GB of Ram I have installed.
The computer sees the memory, however the OS does not. I have Windows XP Pro on a Dell GX270. The processor is a x6 family 15 model 2 stepping 9 GenuineIntel ~2992 Mhz which I understand to be a dual core processor. (I'm not completely fluent in computer speak, although I pretend I am among my less fluent friends.) It has a 360 GB Hard drive, which probably isn't relevant. I read the article about memory limits (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366778%28VS.85%29.aspx), but I don't know how to apply that information. I also went to this page (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb870880(v=VS.85).aspx) and typed the registry text in through the command prompt (maybe that's not where I should do it) and it didn't recognize it. Any help? I'm in school and this is really doing me in!2 people need an answerI do too
