Windows XP Security Centre needs to be started.
Son has relocated to University. His hp laptop which runs Windows XP and MS Office 2007, protected by Trend anti virus has previously connected wirelessly to the Internet at home. At University he needs to connect via cable (which may/may not be relevant) but when trying to go on the Internet he receives a pop up telling him the Security Centre needs to be started. Attemps to start it from the Control Panel simply gets the message 'the Security Centre has started and stopped'.Not really sure what the problem is let alone the likely solution! Anyone any ideas?

you should go to Trend Micros website for help fixing this issue, I had a Identical problem with the anti-virus program and he will have to go into CMD Mode to fix it, They can walk him through the fix.
