Windows XP crashes after closing any window.

Original Title: Windows must restart after closing pages such as Control Panel, My Documents and most all pages viewed.Continuous crashing and restart in Windows when simply closing viewed page files. Some programs open and run fine one time, then the next time it will not. Slowing down considerably. Have a good and updated antivirus-Avast. Have run Microsofts registry fix, I am very consious about trying to keep my system clean, maintianed and updated. I believe there is too much file version conflicts, using compatiblity manager and registry editors are not a safe thing for me to tamper with without detailed professional instructions, have had to reinstall my OS too many time from doing that in the past. Hi lucybell,Did you may any software or hardware changes on the machine prior to this issue?Let’s follow these methods & check if the issue persists.Method 1You may disable Avast antivirus software temporarily & check if the computer crashes.Note: Turn on the security softwares after checking.Method 2You may configure the computer in clean boot state and then try to install the update manually. It will start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs and helps to eliminate software conflicts.
