Windows XP doesn't detect any internet at all despite computer being plugged into working modem.
I recently installed Windows XP Professional to my new iMac via bootcamp. While Windows itself works fine, it will not connect to internet at all. Despite being connected to a DSL modem via an Ethernet cord, and also having wireless internet, Windows cannot detect any signal. On the internet connections page in the control panel, all that appears is "1394 Connection" under the "LAN or High-Speed Internet" header. I've tried multiple times to set up a new internet connection through the setup wizard and each time no internet is detected. I know that the modem is working because all other computers in my house are connecting to internet fine, including the Mac side of the iMac. If anybody has any idea as to how I should fix this, your help would be greatly appreciated! The "1394 Connection" is your computer's IEEE 1394 (FireWire) port. There should be wired and wireless network connections under the "LAN or High-Speed Internet" header. There's no need to run the Network Setup Wizard or set up a new connection. Open Device Manager (Start > Run > devmgmt.msc ) and look under Network adapters . You might have to install drivers for them.
