Windows XP says my Network Adapter is connected, but can not reach the Internet.
My internet connection, via ethernet, was working well. I restarted my computer and I could no longer reach it. I have a DSL Modem router. I ran the diagnostic tool on Internet Explorer. Per it's instruction I turned the modem/router off and back on and received the same lights, as they were previously, including the Ethernet connection and DSL link. I attempte to open the modem/router using it's IP address on Internet Explorer, but it was unable to open that either. I used the automatically obtain IP addrdess and static IP addressing and neither worked. I tried to repair the connection in the Network section in the Control Panel. I received the error message: "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed:Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection. Cannot proceed."My DSL modem/router appears to be functioning properly. I believe the computer has the problem. The system is currently set to automatically obtain IP address. Can you help me?? 1 person needs an answerI do too
