Windows installer broken after SP1 fails
I had 4 Win 7 prof 64bit machines that broke down during SP1 install. 1 I had to reinstall 1 machine but the 3 others got up and running again after rolling back manually via copying old state back to the system. Imidiatly after I disabled Windows update so SP1 wouldn´t install itself again. Everything was OK. NOW though - turning on windows update, it is not working. Trying to install a program manullay gives the same "you cannot get acces to windows installer - contact admin" (translatet from Danish) I have tryied to fix the installer på nothing works. Any suggestions or are these 3 machines ready to be reinstalled again? Thanks Michael GrønMichael Grn

Hi, Please kind to go to event viewer and share me the error logs of Windows Installer. You can follow these KBs to troubleshoot the Windows Installer issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315353 (This KB also apply to Windows 7) If it does not work, try to perform a system restore for test. And if system restore still doesn’t work, that seem some components of Windows 7 has been broken or corrupted. An in-place upgrade may fix the problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2255099 Hope that works. In addition, what problem do you meet during SP1 install?
