Windows update failing, can't install MS Office 2010 or SQL 2008, ALL the same error 0x800736B3 error 1935
Hi, I'm using Windows 7 x64 and windows update is failing, whilst that isn't the problem I'm trying to solve today I'm sure its the link to the fact I can't install Office 2010! I keep going deeper and deeper into the setup logs and error logs and found my way into WinSXS and CBS.LOG and I keep tripping up over missing VC80 ATL/CRT dlls... now I'm downloading x64 redist's 2005 redirst / sp1's but what I'd like to do is install ALL of the VC++ dlls into WinSXS so I can't possibly not have one. Here is the SQL error which is more detailed than the Office 2010 because it says what its looking for! 1935 2: {66332652-9C28-58B1-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E} 3: 0x800736B3 4: IAssemblyCacheItem 5: Commit 6: policy.8.0.Microsoft.VC80.ATL,version="8.0.50727.1833",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86",type="win32-policy" I'm not sure how I've pickled the VC++ libs but I've spent about 8 hours delving into the problem and just wish I could find all the definitive versions of the dlls period. My latest trick was to install VC++ Express to see what I get, that went fine but the SQL 2008 components won't install, and you guessed it, missing VC80 etc.... any guidance or strategy to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks Anthony
