Hello I have XP on my other PC, and have had this problem for over three weeks. When the PC hibernates, it will not start when I touch the mouse etc. It then will not reboot after a manual close-down. Bizarrely, if I leave it for a good few hours, it reboots perfectly. I shut down the hibernation option, hoping that somehow that was causing the problem, but no. The big trouble is that I urgently need it for work today. I have emailed the PC manufacturers, but they have not replied. I cannot see that it's their issue however, as the monitor and keyboard lights are on -- but perhaps it is a hardware issue? Any help will be so gratefully received.1 person needs an answerI do too

when you use the hibernation feature, windows will download the contents inside the ram memory chips into the hiberfil.sys file. afterwards it will power off the system. subsequently, the power on button is required to start the computer and to reload the ram memory chips with the data saved in the hiberfil.sys file. so when the contents in ram is reinstated, so is the state of the system at the time of hibernation. the other power feature that windows provides is standby mode. standby mode puts the computer in a low power state. the contents inside the ram memory stay energized. to bring the computer out of standby mode, you can click the mouse button. unfortunately, if the computer is in standby mode and there is a loss of power, then the data inside the ram will be wiped away. in my opinion the standby power mode is no better than using a screensaver. as you may know, a screensaver will execute when the computer is idling. and if the computer losses power will the screensaver is on, the results are the same as standby, i.e. everything in ram memory will be lost. my suggestion is to use hibernation feature because it saves your data on the disk and it will also power down the computer which prolongs the life of the machine. and if you want to have a similar option like standby working as well, then use a screensaver instead. the screensaver will let you know that the computer is not off and you will need to manually save any open files before power down your computer. -- db`...><)))> ."Torridoneagle" wrote in message news:85b4ef60-dc42-4caf-8132-d54dcfea247b...Hello I have XP on my other PC, and have had this problem for over three weeks.
