Wireless / Wired problem
Wireless / wired problem I'm having problems with communications between wired and wireless devices. My home devices are: Buffalo WZR2-G300N Router 192.168.11.1 PC Wired Windows7 192.168.11.2 (non DHCP) Home Server Wired ClearOS 5.1 192.168.11.250 (non DHCP) Notebook Wireless Windows7 192.168.11.3 (non DHCP) Audio Streamer (Philips NP1100) Wireless N/A 192.168.11.150 (DHCP) iPhone Wireless N/A 192.168.11.151 (DHCP) The main problem is that my notebook does not connect in my home PC The notebook does not ping any wired device besides the router WZR2-G300N My PC ping's everyone except Iphone and Notebook (heaven pings NP1100 wirelessly) Everyone has access to the internet. All gateways point to my router 192.168.11.1 If I connect the notebook to the router using a cable, everything is fine... On my PC I can see the notebook on network, bur I can not connect to him (joining an domestic group for instance) On the notebook I can only see himself and the NP1100 on the network I've made the tests with an without firewall software enabled One more strange thing... I have the tcp port 80 redirected to my home server. In the notebook (or iphone) if I try to open an HTTP page in my home server via LAN IP it fails, if I connect using my public IP, it succeds. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi If your Win 7 computers are are configured to HomeGroup, switch them to Work network and delete the HomeGroup ----------------------- Win7 when configured on peer-to-peer Network has three types of Sharing configurations. HomeGroup Network = Works only between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration makes it very easy to Entry Level Users to start Network sharing. Work Network = Basically similar to the previous methods of sharing that let you control what, how, and to whom folders would be shared with. Public Sharing = Public Network (like Internet cafe) to reduce security risks. For best results log to each computer's System Screen and set all the computers to be on a Network with the same name while each computer has its own unique name. http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/net_name.jpg Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party Firewall instructions General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#trusted Please Note that some 3rd party Software Firewalls keep blocking aspects of Local Traffic even it they are turned Off (disabled). If possible configure the Firewall correctly, or totally uninstall it to allow clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled or disables, make sure that Windows native Firewall is On . Since you have a Network with Win 7 and other version of Windows you need to configure Win 7 as Work Network. In the Network Center, clicking on the Network type opens the window to the right. Choose your type of Network. Notice the check mark at the bottom, and check/uncheck it according to your needs. http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/net_type.jpg Win 7 - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Networking-home-computers-running-different-versions-of-Windows Win 7 Work Network specific folder sharing - http://www.onecomputerguy.com/windows7/windows7_sharing.htm Vista File and Printer Sharing- http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx Windows XP File Sharing - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304040 Printer Sharing XP - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/expert/honeycutt_july2.mspx Windows Native Firewall setting for Sharing XP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875357 Windows XP patch for Sharing with Vista (Not need for XP-SP3) - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922120 When finished with the setting of the system it is advisable to Reboot all the hardware including the Router and all computers involved. *Note. Some of the processes described above are done Not for Windows sake but to compensate for different Routers and the way their firmware works and stores the info about the computers that are Networked. Hi, To troubleshoot the issue, please perform the following steps. 1. Please temporarily disable firewall or antivirus program on both PC and notebook to check the result. 2. Restart above two machines in Safe Mode with Networking and run a Ping test between them. 3. Configure the connection to obtain an IP address automatically a. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) to Start Search bar and press "Enter". b. Right-click the network connection and click "Properties". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. c. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and click "Properties". d. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". e. Click "OK". f. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties". g. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". h. Click "OK". i. Reboot the computer. What's the result now? If the issue persists, please collect the following log file for research. Collect the Netmon trace ========================= a. Download NetMon3.3 from the following website and install it on the computer http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=983b941d-06cb-4658-b7f6-3088333d062f b. Launch NetMon3.3. c. In the Microsoft Network Monitor 3.3 window, click Create a new capture tab … d. In the new tab, select all the Network Adapters in the Select Networks window. e. Then, switch to Network Monitor, press F5 to start NetMon. f. Try to join the domain again. When it failed, go to step 7. g. Go back to the NetMon window and press F7 to stop the NetMon. h. Press Ctrl+S to save the Netmon file named test. Then please upload to SkyDrive (www.skydrive.live.com ) and share the link to me.
