Wireless Domain Authentication Doesn't Work For Specific Domain Accounts
Our domain has a wireless setup that uses WPA2-Enterprise, AES- MS PEAP, which works well for wireless connections for laptops on our domain, except for the following, baffling case: I have several new laptops running Windows 7, for which I've created specific user accounts; the laptops and their user accounts are in their own OUs and have a group policy of their own. The domain admin account and a couple of standard network user accounts that I've tested log on successfully wirelessly. But the specific domain user accounts created for the laptops do not: If I plug in an ethernet cable and turn off the wireless receiver on the laptop, the specific user account logs on successfully. Here's the weird part : If I log off and turn on the wireless receiver again, then put in the credentials for the laptop user account, I get a message telling me the username or password is wrong; if I hit cancel it logs in anyway (probably with a cached profile, but there's no Internet access most likely because our NAC software see that it hasn't authenticated and cuts off access). This problem only seems to exist for these specific accounts, which are NOT roaming profiles, unlike the vast majority of our network accounts. I've been banging my head for days on this - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Here's what happened: I had the laptops accounts set up to only log on to specific computers, in this case the laptops. Turns out this was causing the problem - once I set the accounts back to logging on to all computers again, the accounts logged on wirelessly no problem. As to what the actual cause is I can only speculate something in the wireless setup can't read something in AD...

Hi , 1. I suggest you upgrade the network adapter drivers of the laptops and see the result. 2. Turn off the firewalls on these laptops. 3. Please check both the server and client sides and see if the following Group Policy setting is configured: Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Wireless Network (IEEE 802.11) Policies For more information about this Group Policy setting, please refer to: Access Active Directory-based wireless network policies Activate Default Wireless Network (IEEE 802.11) Policies Hope these help.
