Wireless Key for AP disappears on machine Rename and Join Domain.
In Win 7 is there a way to set the wireless key for all the user profiles? I have Win 7 laptop machines that I re-image, rename their assigned name, then join the machine to the domain. Its after the rename and join the domain steps when the wireless key disappears and I have to re-key it back in by hand. I never had to do this with XP. Is the key in a registry hive I can reapply later or is there some other means for keeping the same key set for the workgroup and domain profiles? Thanks... Chris

You can only copy one sample profile to the Default user profile and apply it to all new created users. How to customize the default local user profile when you prepare an image of Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973289Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. My Imaging needs are pretty simple. I take a machine and set it up the way its needed. Use Symantec Ghost to duplicate it. The duplicated machine is fine until I rename it and join it to the Domain by hand. Once the machine is on the domain the wireless key is gone because of the new profile. Everything else with my image is just fine. I don't need to create and unattended answer file, etc. Please explain why I now need to go thru a million steps with Systems Center Config Manager and Sysprep? Is there a better tutorial other than the KB articel?
