Wireless network cannot reconnect after hibernate
Hi,Got a Dell XPS M1530 laptop running Vista 32bit. I use the laptop's wireless card to connect to a Linksys router here at home. The problem is that after I hibernate the laptop, it refuses to reconnect to the network once I've brought it back up. Often times it sits there with a local connection only (the network status is hovering on "identifying network") and never actually gains access to the internet. The only way I've been able to reconnect the network is to either reboot the laptop or manually disconnect the wireless network, then manually reconnect it.I've tried ipconfig /release and /renew, but that does not work reliably (it generally works about 1 time out of 10). I also checked and have the latest drivers installed for the device, and the computer has downloaded all the latest updates. Is there any fix for this that anybody is aware of? I can do the manual disconnect/reconnect thing, but it's a real pain. I never had to do this with my XP laptop. If there isn't an existing fix, do you know if there are plans for one? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,This has been a known issue and has been (supposedly) fixed in Service Pack 1. Do you have it installed?

Yeah, I have it installed. It was installed with other standard updates when it came out. It doesn't seem to have made a difference, though.

Hi, First, please update your BIOS to the latest version. Then, try to take the following steps: 1. Click Start, right click Computer and choose Properties. 2. Click Device Manager. 3. Navigate to wireless card , right click it and choose Properties. 4. Choose Power Management tab. 5. Please uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. 6. Choose Driver tab, 7. Please click Update Driver to install the latest driver. 8. Restart the computer and test this issue again. Hope it helps.
