Wireless network does not automatically connect at logon
I am having problems with a Dell Latitude E5500 laptop running Windows 7 and connected to a domain. When a user logs on to the computer, the network profile which I have created (and ticked all the appropriate boxes - "automatically connect at logon", "connect even if the network is not broadcasting", etc) does not become active. The user can easily open the list of available networks and connect to the network but I have never encountered this problem until now, where the connection is not made automatically. When the laptop boots, it authenticates with the domain over the wireless network, the user logon is authenticated over the network but somewhere between this point and the user's desktop being presented, the wireless network is disconnected and the user has to manually connect. I have tried a lot of fixes, from deleting and recreating the wireless network profiles in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Wlansvc\Profiles\Interfaces to swapping out the Intel WiFi card for a Dell card. Nothing I have tried has improved the situation. I have read about a few people having similar problems but so far I have not found a solution. Has anyone come across this same problem and if so, were you able to find a solution? Looking through the event logs, the problem *appears* to be described by the following event: Information 18/08/2010 15:46:57 Microsoft-Windows-WLAN-AutoConfig 8003 AcmConnection WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully disconnected from a wireless network. Network Adapter: Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN Interface GUID: {954E111A-174F-4C19-ADFF-6F1C0B7050A2} Connection Mode: Automatic connection with a profile Profile Name: ***** SSID: ***** BSS Type: Infrastructure Reason: The network is disconnected by the user. This event is then followed by: Information 18/08/2010 15:46:57 Microsoft-Windows-WLAN-AutoConfig 11004 MsmSecurity Wireless security stopped. Network Adapter: Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN Interface GUID: {954E111A-174F-4C19-ADFF-6F1C0B7050A2} Local MAC Address: 00:24:D6:99:0C:D4 Network SSID: ***** BSS Type: Infrastructure Peer MAC Address: 00:1F:9E:80:94:70 Security Hint: The operation was successful. The reason for disconnection given in the first event "The network is disconnected by the user" is confusing as I can't find any reason why this connection should be terminated.

Hi, please to reinstall wireless driver first, you can download the driver from Dell web which is compatible with Windows 7 http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R249604&formatcnt=0&libid=0&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=364550 Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. Please make sure you create the Network profile in correct way: Create or modify network profiles Check the “Wireless Zero Configuration” in Service is start or not. Try clicking on the Wi-Fi connection on the taskbar. Pull up the desired network and right click on it and go to properties. On the connection tab check "connect automatically when in range" .
