Workstation does not unlock completely
We are using HP laptops with Windows Vista Business 32 Bit.When a user unlocks there computer, they are able to see the desktop, they are able to select Icons on the Desktop, but are unable to launch any application. They cannot even logoff. If they had left a document open before the workstation was locked. They would be unable to save it after the laptop is unlocked. They get an out of disk space error messageThe problem seems to occur at random intervals whether the laptops are connected to our network or not

Hi,Many of these issues were fixed with SP1. Do you have SP1 installed? Victor Constantinescu - MVP Security, MCTS

Hi Jim, does the issue occur on all the computers that connect to the network? What if we disconnect the network and then unlock it? We can perform a Clean Boot to troubleshoot the issue first: 1. Click Start, type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotations) in the Search Bar and Press "Enter" to start the System Configuration Utility. Note: Please click Continue if the "User Account Control" window pops up. 2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". 4. Restart the computer and test the issue. Note: Clean Boot is a troubleshooting step. If some programs have been disabled, we can re-enable them later. If you see the System Configuration Utility, check the box of "Don't show this message" and then click "OK". Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment. If the issue disappears, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.Sean Zhu - MSFT
