XP/Vista Network All Good, except...
Howdy,OS: XP Machine (Media Center Edition 2002 SP2)Vista Machine (Windows Vista Home Basic)Hardware:Linksys BEFSR4 ver 3.1Software:XP Machine - Norton Systemworks 2006 (Is the Firewall)Network Detector: ONHome Networking Zones: Trusted: 192.168.1.0Vista Machine - Norton Internet Security (came with the machine & is the Firewall)Network:WiredIssue:Unable to share the entire C: Drive or Folders in the Program Files Folder.General Info:Workgroup Name is the same.I can access the internet with either machineI have shared at least one Folder on both machines with full access, I did not share the entire drive on eitherI am the only user on both machinesLLTD installed on the XP machine Vista - Network and Sharing CenterPrivate NetworkAccess: Local & InternetConnection: LairNetwork Discovery: ONFile Sharing: ONPublic Folder Sharing: ONPrinter Sharing: OFFPassword Protected Sharing: OFF (I'll change after I get through this)Media Sharing: OFFBecause I'm not using the Windows Firewall I get the box that says "For sharing and discovery to work..."I am able to share files NOT in the Program Files Folder, however I received a message that since the System uses the Program Files folder it won't let me share that. I don't know if that would help anyone or not in trying to figure out why they can't get their Share to work.I also found that I needed to set Security Settings on the Folder I was sharing & that when I was done setting the permission I had to hit the Share button that was showing there. This button did not appear for any folder under the Program Files.I would like to share files under the Program Files folder, so if a solution comes up I'm game; however for now both can see each other & use files that I place in Shared folders NOT in the Program Files folder.Hope this helps someone.
