Installing a larger and/or secondary hard drive is the only real solution. That said, 20 GB is a bit large for C:\Windows.Download and run JDiskReport: http://www.jgoodies.com/freeware/jdiskreport/index.htmlThis will give you an idea of what is taking up space on your hard drive. At that point, you can either research the files yourself or post back here for advice on what, if anything, can be deleted.A typical question is whether you can (or should) uninstall the $NTUninstallKB... files. The answer is yes ... if you are careful and don't care about being able to uninstall a Microsoft Update patch. Some people burn these files to a CD first. For detailed advice, see http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Hotfix_backup.htm Altogether, however, these files probably don't occupy much more than 1 GB.The largest segment of your C:\Windows folder may well be the \Installer sub-directory. Because this includes information needed to uninstall programs that you have installed, I suggest that you leave it alone.

Over years, Windows will accumulate all inactivated updates in folder inside theC:\Window\ with$NTUninstall sign in front of the file. Best way to remove clutter is to slipstream your Retail XP with SP3 using program such asnLite. Another good, may be the best practice, is to keep your data and other programs on separate logical partition, say D partition. If and when Windows-related issue arises, you can then simply re-install Windows in about 1.5 - 2 hours. Then you can weekly back up important data to external media such as blu-ray or another hard disk.
