XP User Account Help Needed
I am working on my uncles old PC so I do not have all the tech info on what he has.Windows XP (unknown version). He got the newish malware going around I guess. I think it was called "PC Security Center", it popped up non stop and was the normal "Hey you have a lot of viruses you should buy our program to get rid of them." So knowing thats just the scam I tried to get rid of it, but it would not let me on the net to get any tools to get rid of it.Things I tried...I tried Safe Mode but it would stick half way through loading safe mode.Restore point. It took forever to restore it to a date of last month. And the PC said it had been restored successfully. But when I tried to open windows... I would get a white screen with a "Windows Explorer has encountered an error and must close" then it would just sit there on the white screen. I was able to go into the 'alt cntrl delete"manager and try to open windows explorer myself but got the same error message. Happened any time I tried to load windows.Said I was missing "Desktop.dll"Now weird thing, in the A,C,D sys menu I went to the accounts tab and it only showed his main one "His name not ADMIN" I logged off of that and then it went into the Windows sign in screen and I was able to log in as "Guest" with no trouble. Of course I would have to reinstall all his programs for that user, but windows did boot easily. Now my questions are....I am not sure if the account with his name on it is the Admin or not, but from my time on Windows PCs I dont think it is. But can I (using Guest) delete his screwed up account with his name on it, then create a new account to start over? And if I can erase that old screwed up account does the screwed up windows errors and malware go bye bye with it?2 people need an answerI do too

Hi Dustin Owens, - Have you not installed any Security Software on your computer? You cannot create a new user account from the Guest account. Try logging in with another user account with administrator rights and then create a new user account.Refer these links for more information:How to create and configure user accounts in Windows XPHow to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile in Windows XP When you create a new user account the issues that you face in this account (i.e. Windows Explorer error) will not appear in it because you can even login to the guest account without any issues. But if the virus or malware has infected and damaged the system file, then you might continue to face this issue. If you have not installed any Security Software on your computer, I would suggest you to install Microsoft Security Essentials and scan your computer to fix this issue.
