Yet another sync center problem
We look after many networks most running Server 2003 Domains (we are slowly moving to 2008 Domains) Most workstations/laptops run XP Pro but we now have quite a lot running Win 7 Pro. Most of our clients rely on offline files which are set up as detailed below: Client logs on to the domain - Mapped drive to their home folder - My Docs redirected to Home Drive - Drive set to be available offline. With the XP clients this has run great for years but the Windows 7 clients are starting to give us issues on some sites One site in particular, the XP machines sync fine but the Win 7 machines error when syncing and are very unreliable. This afternoon after trying various hotfixes, reg settings, etc I tried mapping the home drive using the \\ipaddress\sharename and it's syncing fine?? Can anyone shed any light on what the issue might be? As I say XP machines are fine just the Win 7 ones giving having problems.

Hi, It's sounds like DNS issue, so please run the command on that perticular client/workstations. 1.Run below command and try once. Start--->cmd--->ipconfig/flushdns 2. Restart DNS client service using services console or using below command. Start--->cmd--->net stop "dns client" && net start "dns client" Also you can trace packets by using the Network Monitor tools like netmon or wireshark to troubleshoot the issue.Spencer TechNet Community Support

Yes my first thought was DNS and I've already done the flushdns etc. The rest of the network is running fine, all the XP laptops log on sync their offline files no problem it's just the Win 7 laptops that fail. As it turned out the sync didn't complete but it did get further than previously (about halfway through 24GB) My next step is to look at the Win 7 network settings so will report back after
