Are you logging on with credentials that can share resources?

Yes I am the administrator. I solved the missing share tab by unchecking simple sharing. Now I can see both comps settings. They are exactly the same. but comp B still is not sharing. I get the 'no access or not enough storage space' message on comp C (win 7 HP 64 pro). Comp A and B are win XP Pro Dells. Comp A shares fine. I can't figure out what is going on. B won't share with comp A either - same message - no Access. A shares with C fine even all system files on the c drive.

Are you running Acronis? I have read that this often causes the "not enough storage space" error when trying to share files.

Yes, You have the answer. I did more research and found that Seagate basically uses Acronis and that is the problem. My husband fixed the register on his XPand now we can see all of the comp. I have struggled with this for 3 weeks and I can now stop thinking about it. It was a very esoteric problem. Thanks for the advice. Pass this on to other people who are having problems like this. It is hard to find info about what problems seagate/Acronis can cause.
