administrator password bypass for vista?? Not using a reset disk
Hi all, Erm, the people in charge of microsoft (and possibly this website too,) arent gonna like me for this, but i dont suppose any one can tell me how to bypass an administrator password on vista? I was left this computer by my dad (he passed away last month) but i only ever had access to the guest account, and the administrator password went to the grave with him... I only need the password as i am a student & need to download a free trial of microsoft office to complete coursework that is due, but cant do this either because the security window keeps popping up for him to give his permission to download from the site.... I have already looked for the reset disk, (which wasnt there) and tried afew other questionable methods, all of which can be viewed on about.com/itsupport at your leisure, but no matter what i do i just cant seem to get in. Kudos to microsoft on that one by the way, it really is a secure wee bugger. And a pain into the bargain... But anyway its vista home premium and if anyone can help me please please do asap as i have been going out of my damn mind for ages over this and your help will be very much appreciated... thanks

1.Vista allows you to create a windows password reset disk which enables you to reset your password without much hassle. The problem with this option is that you have to create the reset disk before the password is lost. You can find a description of how to create a password reset disk here. 2.Use freeware Ophcrack to reset the Windows password It is an open-source password cracker. The technology it uses to break Windows passwords is called “rainbow tables” and was described by Philippe Oechslin in Making a Faster Cryptanalytic Time-Memory Trade-Off. A rough way to describe this technique is to say that tables of possible hashes are precomputed so that you can iteratively compare the windows hashes to precomputed bits and piece together the hash and its value more quickly than brute-force guessing.
